CalfeeDesign Bamboo Bike
After Craig Calfee watched his dog try to gnaw through a piece of bamboo with no luck he decided to create a bamboo bike frame. At first it was purely a publicity stunt but then he found that the bamboo withstood impact damage better than carbon fiber and was less than a pound heavier than a comparable carbon fiber frame. The carbon fiber also absorbs road vibrations better than carbon fiber which allows bikers to ride longer. Now the CalfeeDesign Bamboo Bike ($1,900-$4,500) have one multiple awards and are available for road or mountain in different frame styles with a ten year warranty.

Western Digital Caviar Green
The Caviar Green Drive ($100-$139) has 40 percent reduced power consumption compared to other desktop drives. This allows the drive to be 4-5 watts more efficient than standard desktop drives. Although 4-5 watts does not sound like much, over a year of use it reduces C02 emissions that would be produced making that power by 13.8 kilograms per year. That is the same amount of emissions that would be saved if someone did not use there car 3 days every year. If you expand this over huge corporations with hundreds of thousands of computers you can see what a difference this can make to our environment. The drives also produce less heat and noise making them perfect for external drives because they do not need a fan. Not having a fan in an external drive can save $14.00 per year in electricity costs.
