The EcoTrimmer ($219) replaces toxic gasoline with cleaner propane. Unfortunately propane is currently produced from fossil fuel so it is not as environmentally friendly as it could be. However the EcoTrimmer emits 97 percent fewer particulates than gasoline trimmers do and the propane canister is fully recyclable. The propane canister costs 3 dollars and runs the trimmer for 2 hours. The emissions from a mower are also very dangerous for the operator and equal that of a car driving 20 miles after just one hour of use. The EPA states that sales of gas powered lawn equipment is in the 12 millions and the spills from changing gasoline alone add up to 17 million gallons of gas nationwide. To put that in perspective the tragic Exxon Valdez oil spill dumped 11 million gallons of oil. That number could be greatly reduced by the EcoTrimmers twist n' go fueling. Unfortunately because of the current production of propane the EcoTrimmer isn't as eco-friendly as it could be, but its still a step in the right direction that other products in the industry are not making. So spend your summer breathing easy as you cut green for less green.
